The Cake Studio
Our cake studio is located in the market town of Saxmundham (approx 35 miles from Norwich & 20 miles from Ipswich).
The studio is setup with displays of our latest cake designs and is open for meetings by appointment; Monday- Friday, Saturday 2p.m.-7p.m. & Sunday.
It is open Saturday 10a.m.-2p.m. for general viewing and we have a selection of cakes and desserts for sale (these change every week) as well as celebration cakes which can also be ordered over the phone for collection on Saturday.
FAQs
Where do we deliver ?
We cover the whole of East Anglia and we will deliver and set-up your cake at your wedding venue on the morning of your wedding. We deliver within a 50 mile radius of the kitchens for free. It is possible to deliver further but there may be a delivery charge for this.
What is included in the price?
All wedding cakes include fresh flowers of your choice as well as delivery and set-up at your venue on your wedding day. Cupcake and Individual cake towers also include a top cake, stand hire and collection of the stand from the venue after the wedding.
Do we only make the designs as seen on our website?
No, we can create any design of cake to suit your day. We can work on a design you have come up with or from pictures you may have seen in wedding magazines.
What flavours of cakes do you offer?
Each tier of your wedding cake can be a different flavour or for the individual cakes and cupcakes you can have as many flavours as you like. Some of our most popular flavours are: Vanilla and raspberry, Vanilla and caramel, Vanilla and hazelnut, Carrot, Lemon, Cappuccino, Vanilla and chocolate truffle, Milk chocolate truffle, Dark chocolate truffle, Chocolate and blackcurrant truffle, Chocolate and Cointreau truffle and Fruit cake. However, the flavour options are endless am we are happy to incorporate your favourite flavours.
Do you cater for any dietary requirements?

How large a cake will I need?
If you are serving your cake as your main dessert (as part of your 3 course meal) then you would need the ‘dessert sized portions’ mentioned on the price list and you would need a slice for every guest. For the individual cakes you would have 1 cake per guest or you could have ½ a cake per guest and serve it with some ice cream or cream and berries. If you are serving your cake later in the evening or when the evening guests have arrived, then you would need the ‘smaller portions’ mentioned on the price list. You would probably not need a slice for everybody as not all guests may want a slice. If you are having a very large wedding we are also able to provide ‘cutting cakes’. These are extra cakes which go directly to your caterers. They can be sliced up into 20 dessert or 30 smaller portions. This way you can have a smaller cake on display and make up the portions you need with these extra cakes. They are also a good way of keeping the overall cost down as they are only £30 each.
How do I order a cake?
If you are interested in getting a cake from us you can either come in for a tasting meeting at our showroom in Saxmundham to see some show cakes, try different flavours and to discuss the design in more detail. Alternatively we could meet at a wedding fair and we would bring samples along for you to take home and try. Otherwise, we could discuss everything over the phone and we can send samples out by post for you. The tasting meetings at the kitchens are free. Due to the cost of sending out samples, we charge £10 for a box of 11 different flavour cake samples...but if you book your wedding cake with us then you will get the £10 refunded to you. To secure a booking, £100 deposit is required with the remainder due 2 weeks before the wedding.
How long in advance should I book my wedding cake?
There is no set time to book your wedding cake, but if you are getting married in the summer months (our busy season) then it is best to book your cake as soon as possible (even if it is just reserving the date with a tasting meeting to decide on flavours and design to be arranged closer to the wedding). If you are getting married on a particularly busy weekend such as a bank holiday weekend, it may be advisable to book at least 12 months in advance as we very often get booked up. However, if we have availability it is possible to book a wedding cake as little as 1 week before the wedding.
What happens once I have booked?
When you have booked your cake we will send you a confirmation email with the details of the cake you have chosen. We will then contact you again about 2 weeks before the wedding to finalise everything. At this point you can make any changes you would like - you are able to change flavours, size and even design. We will then liaise with your florist a week before the wedding to find out what flowers are being used in the floral displays and we will get the same flowers for your cake. We speak to the venue a day or 2 before the wedding to arrange a delivery time with them.
Can I have a chocolate wedding cake in the summer?
Yes. We specialise in chocolate wedding cakes and the summer months are our busiest time. We have been running for 8 years and we have never had a problem with our cakes. If it is a very hot day we will refrigerate your cake the night before the wedding and deliver it to the venue in our fridge van. You cake will arrive perfectly cool and then will slowly come back to room temperature by the evening when you are ready to eat it. If you have an exceptionally hot venue or marquee we can set-up the cake in a cooler room or in a caterer’s fridge van – ready for it to be moved into the room before you arrive.
We are closing for our Christmas Holidays on December 19th
& will be closed for January & February creating new cake designs and getting ready for what is looking like a very busy 2012 Wedding Season!

Delivery & Payment
Ideally wedding cakes need to be booked at least 6 months in advance, but if we have availability we may be able to accommodate late bookings.
A £100.00 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. We cannot confirm your booking until this has been received.
As we are constantly receiving enquiries, it is important to secure your date as soon as possible. We would not want to disappoint anyone, but we are already receiving bookings for 2013.
